From 1 April 2010, DB Regio will work with Nexus to deliver a package of improvements including modernisation of stations the creation of scores of new jobs on the 48-mile system.

I wonder if we should expect the usual 'hue and cry' from the RMT, now that this decision has been made - they've been chipping away at the process for many months?
They didn't seem to say much about DB Regio's involvement in Chiltern, WSMR and LOROL though. Three organisations that seem to operate OK as far as the statistics go...

I'll watch this one with interest, as this is near to my home patch.
Although I am not convinced that "privitisation" is always the answer! The consequent fragmentation of the mainline system has continued to cause me problems!! |

The only upsides I can see from the privatisation, other than the "unlocking of capital funds" are the possibilities that some of the "priced options" in the tender came in at nice rates:
- Running the Metro on New Year's Day between 0000 and 0200 and then 1030 to 2315
- Running the peak extras for an extra 30 minutes in the evening
- Stabling stock at Airport, St James and Pelaw overnight to allow the service to start earlier on some routes.
The "Invitation to Negotiate" also talks about running the normal service from 0430 to 0200, but I cannot see that it is likely we'll get more than we get now on normal occasions, although wishful thinking raises the possibility of later trains on Friday and Saturday nights.
