East Coast Pendolino?
 | DfT-owned operator East Coast has announced they are in discussions to commission a new 11-car Class 390 on the ECML. Not due to enter service on the West Coast Mainline until 2012, East Coast would be custodians of the new train from July 2011 for a nine-month period which would see it operate alongside EC's existing fleet of HSTs and Mk4 sets.

Wolverton Works event postponed
 | Railcare Ltd and Transport Event Services regret to announce that the planned open weekend at Wolverton Works, on 13th and 14th August, will now not go ahead. Citing low ticket sales, refunds will be made to all prebooked visitors and trade stand holders over the next two weeks.
Railcare are optimistic that the event will be rescheduled for the summer of 2011.

More Class 180s for Northern?
 | Sources within Northern have hinted that the operator will receive additional Class 180 DMUs, after it was announced that East Coast will not be taking on five of the 125mph units as intended.
A pair of 180s are already with Northern and will remain at Newton Heath for the remainder of the franchise, with more to come. They were intended to transfer to East Coast in December.
